Crack sealing consists in superficially covering a crack, with an ideal width of between 5 and 15 mm), without lining the bottom. The objective is to establish a bridge between the two lips of the crack in order to waterproof the pavement. The advantage of not completely filling the crack is to allow the joint to take advantage of the elasticity of the mastic to "move" in the crack depending on weather conditions and traffic in particular.
The implementation of the process must include:
- Cleaning / drying of the crack by hot blown air
- The application of the sealant
- Possible sandblasting to avoid the phenomenon of slippage
Used materials :
- Hot applied bituminous sealants (mastics)
Recommended materials: CRACKSEALER / CRACKSEALER +
